The Benefits of Exercise for People with Chronic Lung or Cardiac Conditions
Think of three people close to you. One of them is likely to be affected by lung disease in their lifetime.
The average age of diagnosis is 50 years, with 1/3 being diagnosed with more than one lung condition at the time of diagnosis. It is our nation’s second leading cause of death and there is currently no cure for most lung diseases.
There is strong evidence that exercise rehabilitation helps patients with pulmonary and cardiac disease to build and maintain their fitness capacity and manage symptoms such as breathlessness, increasing their independence and quality of life.
Join Lung Foundation Australia for this one-hour webinar where guest speaker, Janet Bondarenko will talk about her experience of running an exercise rehabilitation program with patients with chronic lung disease. Hear from patients with a lived experience and see how participation has improved their health outcomes.
Kristal and Emma from Lung Foundation Australia, will follow share their insights about how exercise professionals can support patients in the community once they have completed pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation by establishing a Lungs in Action program.
The exercise maintenance program reduces social isolation by providing the opportunity to exercise with others with a lived experience, enhancing community connectedness and belonging.
